Audi GT star Laurens Vanthoor took an amazing pole position at Brands Hatch this afternoon. The British circuit is hosting the second round of the Blancpain Sprint Series.
Laurens Vanthoor who dominated the Q2 session was simply flying in Q3. The 2014 Blancpain GT Series champion set the fastest time in the session, 1:23.703. Laurens Vanthoor is sharing the #1 Audi R8 LMS from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT with Dutch driver Robin Frijns. Earlier today the car was damaged following a crash with Laurens Vanthoor behind the wheel. Team WRT crew members did a great job repairing the car before qualifying.
Another Audi driver who performed very well is Christopher Mies. The German driver took a strong third place overall with the #3 R8 LMS ultra from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT. He is sharing the Audi with Belgian driver Enzo Ide.
Phoenix Racing qualified in a strong eighth place overall. Markus Winkelhock performed well in both Q2 and Q3 sessions. The German factory Audi driver is sharing the #6 Audi R8 LMS ultra with Niki Mayr-Melnhof.
The #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT narrowly missed the Top 10 in qualifying. The car shared by James Nash and Frank Stippler qualified in eleventh place.
Best of the ISR Racing Audis was the #75 R8 LMS ultra with drivers Marco Bonanomi and Filipe Salaquarda, they qualified in fourteenth place.
A though session for Monaco drivers Stéphane Ortelli and Stéphane Richelmi, they ended in sixteenth place with their #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra from Belgian Audi Club Team WRT.
The second ISR Racing entry qualified in eighteenth place overall with brothers Anders Fjordbach and Thomas Fjordbach. They are driving the #74 Audi R8 LMS ultra.
The two Blancpain Sprint Series will be held on Sunday, first the qualifying race followed by the main one.
